DIY thumb tack earrings

I have been looking for some cute earrings, and what is cuter than creating an optical illusion? Whether you call them thumb tacks, push pins, or drawing pins, these slightly punk, VERY cute earrings will look great on anyone!

  • Glue of some kind (I would recommend using superglue as it is more sturdy)
  • Very Strong Wire Cutters
  • Earring Bases and Backs
  • Thumb Tacks

1. Heat up your glue gun!
(if you are using hot glue)

2. Clip off the spike-y part!

If you have really strong pliers you can just clip it off,
but if you have weak ones like me, you can start by clipping off
the tip and then taking off bits until you reach the post.

Don't push too hard or you will break the tack!

You can leave a bit at the end, but try to make it as short as possible.

3. Cut your earring base
If your bases are smaller than the tacks, you don't have to do this,
but if they are bigger, like mine, this makes it look a lot better.

4. Glue it!

If you are using hot glue, be very careful, it will get super hot super fast.
The less glue you use, the neater it will look.

5. Wait for them to dry, then wear em'
